Appearing for the Delhi Police, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju opposed the bail plea alleging that Ravi is deleting and destroying the evidence.
On Saturday, Delhi’s Patiala House Court reserved the order on climate activist Disha Ravi’s bail application for February 23. Additional sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana was hearing the bail petition.
Appearing for the Delhi Police, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju opposed the bail plea alleging that Ravi is deleting and destroying the evidence. “Reasons for denying bail is tampering with the evidence,” ASG Raju said.
The 21-year-old activist is not cooperating with the investigation, he told the court. “The investigation is at the nascent stage. We are yet to confront her with the other accused. She later admitted that she deleted (the WhatsApp group)…her lie was caught and she admitted that she created the group,” he said.
The ASG, on behalf of Delhi Police, further said that Ravi had asked Swedish activist Greta Thunberg to delete the document. “If it was so innocuous, why did she ask Greta to remove it. This shows there was a sinister plan behind this toolkit,” he argued.
Ravi was sent to three-day judicial custody by Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Friday.
The 22 years old climate activist was sent to jail by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Akash Jain after Delhi Police produced her before the court on expiry of her five-day custodial interrogation.
Siddarth Agarwal, the lawyer representing Ravi, argued that the case is that there is a Khalistan conspiracy that took advantage of farmers’ protest and further their agenda, however, Disha Ravi has no connection with the Poetic Justice Foundation.
“They do not indicate any predisposition to attach her to the cause. She’s not a rebel without a cause. Her cause is environment and agriculture,” he added.
