New Delhi| A 52 years old doctor from Delhi committed suicide on Saturday allegedly owing to the harassment by an Aam Aadmi Party MLA, the police informed. In his 2-page suicide note, the doctor alleged that the ruling party leader and his colleagues were allegedly trying to extort money from him and targeted his business interests when he refused to pay them.

The doctor, Rajendra Singh, lived in Delhi’s Neb Sarai area and owned a water tanker service. He was found hanging in his room, said police. It was Singh’s tenant who found out about the suicide.

Police informed that in a 2-page suicide note, the doctor has blamed AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal and his associate Kapil Nagar.

The victim in his diary has written that he had rented the water tankers to Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and Mr. Jarwal was demanding extortion money from him for the same. He has written that when he refused to pay the money, the MLA had the tankers removed from the DJB services. He has also written that he was getting death threats.

The police said that the body was sent to AIIMS for postmortem.
