Delhi Riots Case: Court Orders Immediate Release Of Three Activists

The Court dismissed the Delhi Police’s application seeking more time to verify the addresses of the three activists.

A Delhi court today ordered immediate release of three activists Natasha Narwal, Devangana Kalita and Asif Iqbal Tanha, LiveLaw reported.

The court pronounced orders on the release of the three student activists after they were granted bail by the Delhi High Court in the Delhi riots conspiracy case.

The Court dismissed the Delhi Police’s application seeking more time to verify the addresses of Devangana Kalita, Natasha Narwal and Asif Iqbal Tanha and their sureties.

“I would say that this by itself cannot be a plausible reason for the accused to be kept imprisoned till the time such reports are filed,” Delhi Court observed.

“The accused is directed to be released forthwith as per Orders of Delhi High Court. Since the verification of permanent address of accused shall require sometime, let the Report to this effect be filed by IO on or before 23.06.2021 at 2 30 PM with the concerned court,” the court ordered.
