Bengaluru| Employees of a Taiwanese technology giant, having plant near Bengaluru, indulged in violence, reportedly angry over salaries, and vandalised the facility’s premises today morning. The Karnataka government has strongly condemned the incident. However, the company Wistron Corporation has not responded yet, NDTV reported.
According to reports, the salary matter had lingered for months, post which the employees suddenly turned violent today. The protesters raised slogans against the management, pelted stones at the office, and set afire a company name board and a vehicle, according to the report by NDTV.
Some 50 kilometres east of Bengaluru, the police reached the location shortly after and used mild lathi-charge to disperse the protesters.
Dr C Ashwathnarayan, the Deputy CM of Karnataka, condemned the violence in a series of tweets.
“It is imperative that nobody takes the law in their own hands. There are appropriate forums to resolve such issues without indulging in this wanton violence,” Mr Ashwathnarayan, who also holds the state IT and Biotechnology portfolio, said about the incident.
