The Supreme Court today, while refusing to entertain a fresh batch of petitions seeking deferment of the medical exam, said that everything is over now, even the review petitions have been dismissed. Some petitions had cited weekend Covid-19 lockdowns for deferment, while some others cited Bihar floods. The apex court, however, said that authorities will take all steps necessary to help aspirants sit for the test.
The senior lawyers of the Supreme Court made last efforts, presenting a fresh plea for deferring the exam and requesting for more centres, to bring relief to students who have been seeking to postpone NEET 2020 amid the coronavirus scare.
Meanwhile, National Testing Agency (NTA) had recently conducted JEE Main 2020 examination. Following the exams, many asked how would social distancing be maintained when more number of aspirants would sit for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for medical courses.
Students and parents have been demanding deferment of the examinations in the light of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the court had earlier quashed the pleas in the same matter, stating that “life goes on”.
