Father of the victim raped by Asaram says ‘justice has been served’

After the Asaram rape case verdict was delivered by Special Judge (SC/ST court) Madhusudhan Sharma in the Jodhpur Central jail premises, Asaram was found guilty.

Besides Asaram, two out of five accused have also been convicted, whereas remaining two others have been acquitted by the Jodhpur Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Court. The announcement of the verdict resulted in the father of the rape victim telling reporters that they have got justice.

“Asaram is convicted, we have got justice. I want to thank everyone who supported us in this fight. Now I hope he will get strict punishment. I also hope the witnesses who were murdered or kidnapped get justice,” the rape victims father stated after he told the reporters that he hopes Asaram will get strict punishment and the witnesses who were murdered or kidnapped get justice.

In her complaint, the victim had said that on the night of August 15, 2013, Asaram called her to his ashram in Manai area, which is near Jodhpur and raped her.
