New Delhi| The Centre on Tuesday declared that it will conduct a telephonic survey to gather feedback on COVID-19. Citizens will receive a phone call from ‘1921’ on their mobile phones.

The survey to check the prevalence of novel coronavirus symptoms amid the nation’s soaring counts and fears that many infected persons remain undetected.

The telephone survey will be conducted by National Informatics Network, a government agency. The agency will call up citizens across the nation for feedback on the “prevalence and distribution” of COVID-19 symptoms, the health ministry said.

A Ministry of Health survey said: “People are informed that the survey through 1921 is a genuine survey and they are requested to participate in a good measure when a call comes from 1921 to enable proper feedback of the prevalence and distribution of COVID symptoms.”

A health research official said that around 69 per cent of cases detected in the country during contact tracing did not have symptoms when tested positive., revealing the difficulty of finding a virus that is deadly to some but relatively benign to most infected persons.
