“Grave Misconduct”: Hyderabad Cops Seen Taking Bribe On Camera, Suspended

In a video that was widely shared on social media, two Hyderabad policemen were seen taking bribe from an auto trolley driver.

Hyderabad: A video was widely shared on social media where two policemen were seen taking bribe from an auto trolley driver, they were suspended later.

The suspension comes as the national lockdown to curb COVID19, which has infected over 67,000 people in India and killed over 2,200, enters the seventh week.

In about 44-second clip, two cops, D Pancha Mukesh and B Suresh, are seen taking bribe from the driver wearing a blue shirt. He hands out the money to one of the police officers while the other policeman is sitting on a motorbike. The cop who took the bribe then sits on the bike and both of them leave.

The clip was apparently shot on a mobile camera near the Afzalgunj market of Hyderabad, Telangana’s capital.

Anjani Kumar, Hyderabad Police chief ordered the immediate suspension of the cops as the video went viral.

The timely action by the city police was praised by many on social media.

Telangana has recorded over 1,100 cases of COVID-19 and is under a lockdown till May 29.
