Leh| Special Frontier Force commando Nyima Tenzin (51), who was martyred on the India-China border, was cremated with military honours in Leh today. Bidding him last goodbye, fellow soldiers held the tricolour and chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai. In the last week of August, Tenzin was killed in a mine blast in Ladakh during China’s infiltration attempt.

Tenzin was martyred during the operation against China at the blacktop in the Chushul sector. On the night of 29-30 August, Indian troops foiled an attempt of China to infiltrate Ladakh. The operation also included the Development Regiment of Tibetan Jawans. In this regiment, the exiled people of Tibet are included.
Tenzin was a company leader in the Special Frontier Force (SFF). This force was formed during the Indo-China war in 1962. The Ministry of Defense had issued a statement on the night of 29-30 August about the incursions by Chinese troops and the expulsion of them by Indian soldiers. He is survived by his wife and three children.
