Harish Rawat says Sidhu will continue to be the PCC

Chandigarh: Harish Rawat, the party’s general secretary in-charge of Punjab affairs, after a meeting at the party headquarters on Thursday said, “It is clear that Navjot Singh Sidhu will continue as the Punjab PPC [Pradesh Congress Committee] chief.”

On September 28, Navjot Singh Sidhu had resigned as the Punjab Congress chief after he posted his resignation letter on Twitter. No decision on his resignation has been taken by the party leadership yet.

After the meeting on Thursday, Congress leader Harish Rawat said issues within the party will be resolved through talks. “We will resolve all issues through talks…Sidhu and [Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh] Channi have spoken on all issues and some resolution will be reached soon,” he said.

Harish Rawat’s statement came after Navjot Singh Sidhu met him and AICC general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal on Thursday.

During the meeting, Navjot Singh Sidhu raised his concerns over the 18-point agenda taken by the leadership on which actions are pending. These include action against those involved in the sacrilege issue and the drug mafia.

After the meeting, Navjot Singh Sidhu said he has full faith in the leadership of party chief Sonia Gandhi and any decision taken by her will be acceptable.

“I have raised my concerns about Punjab and Punjab Congress before the party high command and I have full faith in Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul, and Priyanka that whatever decision they make will be in the interest of the Congress and Punjab,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said.

“I always consider them supreme and will follow every direction given by them,” Navjot Singh Sidhu said told reporters.

Meanwhile, senior party leaders said a final decision on Navjot Singh Sidhu’s resignation would be taken by Friday and there would be clarity on the issue
