Breaking: Himachal Pradesh Extends Lockdown Till June 30

Himachal Pradesh has till date registered 214 cases of highly contagious COVID-19 and 5 fatalities.

Shimla: Hamirpur and Solan districts in Himachal Pradesh will remain in the COVID-19 lockdown for a month after the prevailing national phase ends on May 31.

On Monday, the district magistrates of Hamirpur and Solan issued orders extending the lockdown in their areas up to June 30.

Nearly 10,000 people are estimated to have returned from red zones to Hamirpur district in the last four weeks, news agency PTI reported.

Himachal Pradesh has till date registered 214 cases of highly contagious COVID-19 and 5 fatalities.

The total cases in India surged to 1,38,845 including over 55,000 cured/discharged or migrated and more than 4,000 deaths amid lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.

In the past 24 hours, 154 casualties were recorded.

A staggering 6,977 cases new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours, highest so far.

Infections are now doubling every 13.8 days if data of the past seven days are considered.

Across the country, at least 55,000 patients have cured so far the recovery rate stood at 41.28%.

Currently, there are over 77,000 active COVID-19 patients in the country.

India is the 10th worst-affected country in terms of the total number of COVID-19 cases, overtaking China and Iran. However, its tally of active cases exceeds those of some top-ten countries including Spain, Italy, Germany, Turkey and Iran.

213 countries or territories have been affected by the highly contagious virus.

New cases fell to zero in China on Saturday.

Globally, the total number of COVID-19 cases topped 5,600,000 while the death toll crossed 345,000, as per the latest data from Johns Hopkins University.
