Several parts of Hyderabad were left flooded due to heavy overnight rain, just days after a massive downpour left at least 50 people dead and caused damage worth thousands of crores in Telangana. The Balanagar Lake in Hyderabad breached its boundaries last night, causing huge flash floods in nearby areas.

“Due to the rains old Kurnool road towards airport from pvnr expressway is having waterflow over road. All public going towards airport/Bangalore or coming from airport/Bangalore to city are advised to use outer ring road,” DCP Shamshabad Prakash Reddy tweeted.
An auto-rickshaw and a car were seen being swept away in a minute-long clip as locals tried to stop the vehicles. In another visual from Abdullapurmet, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, showed a car at a flooded street being pulled away.
Some areas in the city were showered with 150 mm rain through the day, just a little short of the 190 mm reported on Tuesday.
Moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur in some parts of the city on Sunday; while one or two places may see intense spells, the weather office in Hyderabad said.
The state government, on Thursday, said that 50 people had lost their lives due to heavy rain and flash floods and early estimates showed losses at around ₹ 6,000 crore.
Relief operations in the rain-affected areas are being conducted by authorities, even as some localities, close to water bodies, remained underwater.
The army and the National Disaster Response Force have deployed personnel to evacuate stranded residents.
