“India Heaven For Muslims”: Naqvi On OIC’s ‘Islamophobia’ Criticism

OIC has urged India to stop the incidents of ‘Islamophobia’ & take ‘urgent steps’ to protect its Muslim community.

New Delhi| The OIC showed concern over alleged incidents of “Islamophobia” in India following which on Tuesday Minority Affairs Minister MA Naqvi said Muslims are prosperous in the nation and those trying to vitiate the atmosphere cannot be their friends.

“The constitutional, social and religious rights of all the citizens including minorities is India’s constitutional and moral guarantee,” Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was quoted as telling Press Trust of India.

In a statement on Sunday, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation urged India to take “urgent steps” to protect the rights of its minority Muslim community and stop the occurrences of “Islamophobia” in the country.

Independent Permanent HRC of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation also said in tweets that the Indian media was negatively portraying the Muslims and subjecting them to discrimination.

“We are doing our job with conviction. The prime minister whenever he speaks, he talks about the rights and welfare of 130 crore Indians,” Naqvi said when asked about the OIC criticism.

“If somebody cannot see this, then it is their problem. India’s Muslims, its minorities, all its sections, are prosperous and those people trying to vitiate this atmosphere of prosperity, they cannot be friends of Indian Muslims,” he told reporters.

The minority affairs minister asserted “secularism and harmony is not a “political fashion”, but a “perfect passion” for India and Indians.
