Indian envoy to Pakistan arrives in Delhi for consultations on Pulwama terror attack

Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ajay Bisaria today arrived in India on Saturday to get in consultations with the leadership and officials over the Pulwama terror attack.

The Indian envoy has been called for a consultation at a time when the government is exploring opportunities for giving a fitting reply to Pakistan over the ghastly attack in Pulwama, claiming the lives of around 40 CRPF soldiers.

In the light of the attack, the Centre on Friday declared its decision to withdraw the status of Most Favoured Nation (MFN) granted unilaterally to Pakistan while he asserted that there is ā€œincontrovertible evidenceā€ about the involvement of Islamabad in the deplorable terror attack.

India will also make all efforts possible to ensure ā€˜complete isolationā€™ of Pakistan in the international community and work for early adoption of the overdue Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) which stays pending before the United Nations, he further added.

It was in the 1996 that India had granted the MFN status to Pakistan, a year after the World Trade Organisation was formed but Pakistan has never accorded the same status to India.

Under the international trade rules, MFN stands to be a treatment that was accorded to a trade partner to ensure non-discriminatory trade between the 2 countries.
