Reporting a single-day spike of 94,372 Covid-19 cases, India’s coronavirus tally reached 47,54,356 cases, the Union Health Ministry data this morning showed. With 1,114 more fatalities in 24 hours, the death count has risen to 78,586.
37,02,595 patients have recovered from the infection so far across the country.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by the pandemic, followed by the southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. The country currently has the highest number of reported cases across the world with the only exception of the United States. India remains the second most affected country by the pandemic in terms of cases reported.
The five states reporting the highest cases in the last 24 hours are- Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.
Releasing a set of fresh protocols for patients recovering from the highly contagious disease, the government underlined to “Look for early warning signs like high grade fever, breathlessness, unexplained chest pain, new onset of confusion, focal weakness”. It has also asked patients having severe symptoms to take extra care.
The NEET exam will be held across the country today. According to the testing agency, more than 16 lakh students have registered for this exam.
