Jet Airways mishap: Passengers suffer nasal bleed, complain of acute headache

A flight of Jet Airways this morning had to fly back to Mumbai airport after around 30 passengers suffered from bleeding ears and nose. Turns out the cabin crew had missed pressing the button for the air pressure.

Some passengers even faced an acute headache. All the affected passengers are being treated by the doctors of the airport.

A senior DGCA official said, “Jet Airways B737 aircraft operating flight 9W 697 of 20th Sep 2018 (Mumbai-Jaipur) had air turn-back to Mumbai. During the climb, the crew forgot to select bleed switch due to which the cabin pressurisation could not be maintained”.

The official further added, “As a result, oxygen masks got deployed. As per initial information, few passengers have nose bleeding. Out of 166 passengers on board, 30 passengers are affected who have nose bleeding, few have ear bleeding and some are complaining headache”.

A spokesperson of the Jet Airways confirmed the incident saying, “All passengers were deplaned and first aid was administered to those who complained of ear pain, bleeding nose”.

The statement said, “The flight’s cockpit crew has been taken off scheduled duties pending investigation. The airline is making alternative flight arrangements for guests on this flight”.

It added, “Jet Airways regrets the inconvenience caused to its guests”.
