2 Hizbul and Lashkar terrorists detained with Devinder Singh in Kashmir, who’s a DSP in J&K Police and a decorated officer.
New Delhi| In a counter-terrorism operation conducted in Valley, two Hizbul Mujahideen & Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were detained in south Kashmir with deputy superintendent of J&K police. It’s a baffling revelation since the police officer is an awardee of President’s Police Medal of Gallantry.
DSP Devinder Singh was detained when he was accompanying the two militants. One out of the two militants is identified as a former police officer Naveed Ahmad Shah alias Naveed Babu. The name of other militant is Rafi Ahmed. DIG South Kashmir Atul Goyal apprehended the group and caught the group in a car at a police barricade near Mir Bazar in Kulgam, South Kashmir.
Police believe that 30 terrorists are working under Naveed Babu. He’s also believed to have killed around dozen cops in Valley. The involvement of police officers in militancy has sent a wave of shock across the nation.
The group was riding in an i10 car when they were caught.

Sources said that the officer was under the radar for some time. On Saturday afternoon, the four were arrested when checkpoints were laid out as the group moved from Srinagar to Jammu. An FIR was registered at Quazigund police station.
The group was interrogated separately where the DSP said that he had convinced the other two to surrender, the other two denied his claim of surrender. They told they were going to camp in Jammu for two months.
After the arrest, raids were carried out at Singh’s residence in Tral where 5 grenades and 3 AK-47 rifles were recovered. Singh has expertise in handling the counter-terrorism operations since 1990.
Sources have said that with Republic day around the corner, the group could be planning to launch an attack.
4 of them, including their driver Irfan, was detained from the Mir Bazar, Kulgam. The J&K police have declined to give details.
