“We have informed the police about the meet. A First Information Report should be filed against the family of the woman (victim). The accused have been falsely targeted,” one of the organisers of the meeting said, NDTV reported.
After the national outrage over the incident, large gatherings remain banned in the village. The village was declared a containment zone for Covid-19 after some policemen deployed for the security of the victim’s family allegedly tested positive for the virus.
The meeting, technically, does not need a permission from the administration since it is being held at a private residence.
Earlier on Saturdy, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka gandhi met the victim’s relatives in Hathras. They were allowed to travel to Hathras by the UP government after being detained and dropped to Delhi for the first time they tried to go.
