Justice Muralidhar, Who Ordered To Register FIR Against Kapil Mishra, Transferred

On Wednesday, Justice Muralidharan had directed the Delhi Police to file FIR against three BJP leaders for provocative speeches.

New Delhi| Delhi High Court judge Justice Muralidhar who had criticised the Delhi police’s action during the riots has been transferred. He has now been transferred to Punjab and Haryana High Court.

On Wednesday, he had directed the Delhi Police to file FIR against three BJP leaders for provocative speeches. He had noted that he was appalled with the actions of Delhi Police. “We do not want Delhi to witness 1984 riots again,” Justice Muralidhar had said.
He had also convened the urgent midnight hearing on Tuesday and directed the police to ensure safe passage to those injured in riots.
On Wednesday, he was hearing a number of pleas regarding filing of FIRs, army deployment etc. Questioning the police he had asked whether they had seen the videos of violence. When the police officer present in the court denied watching videos of BJP leaders’ hate speech, he expressed concern about the functioning of the police. He then played the video of Kapil Mishra, Parvesh Verma and Anurag Thakur in court.
As per the reports, the collegium had recommended his transfer on February 12. However, his transfer just a day after he ordered to file FIR against leaders making provocative statements surely raises eyebrows.
