The coordination committee of Karnataka’s JD(S)-Congress coalition government has approved the farm loan waiver proposal, Janata Dal-Secular General Secretary Danish Ali said on Sunday.

Chief Minister Kumaraswamy, Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, Congress general secretary and Karnataka in-charge K C Venugopal, besides Ali, attended the meeting, which was chaired by former chief minister Siddaramaiah.

“The committee of the coalition partners discussed the farm loan waiver proposal and approved it. Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will disclose its details in the state budget he will present on July 5,” Ali told reporters in Bengaluru.

The CMP has agreed to earmark Rs 1.25 lakh crore for irrigation projects in the next five years besides setting a target of building 20 lakh new houses for the needy.
