Karti Chidambaram Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The country crossed 18 lakh cases of coronavirus today, registering around 1,50,000 cases in just three days. Many politicians and leaders have contracted the infectious virus until now.

Congress MP and son of former finance minister P Chidambaram, Karti Chidambaram has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The politician informed about this news through his Twitter handle.

Karti Chidamabaram also confirmed his health status saying that his symptoms were mild and he has quarantined himself at home.

“I have just tested positive for #Covid. My symptoms are mild and as per medical advice I am under home quarantine. I would urge all those who have recently been in contact with me to follow medical protocol,” the 48-year-old parliamentarian tweeted.

62-year-old Uttar Pradesh minister Kamal Rani Varun, who had earlier tested positive for the novel coronavirus, succumbed to the infectious disease in Lucknow Sunday morning.

The minister took her last breath at 9:30 AM at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, the government said in a statement. She is the first minister in Uttar Pradesh to die after contracting coronavirus. She served as Minister of Technical Education.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also tested positive for the coronavirus. He informed his followers about this news on Sunday evening. Amit Shah tweeted, “After experiencing early symptoms of coronavirus, I got myself tested and my report has come positive. My health is fine but I am getting admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors. I request all those who have come in contact with me recently to isolate themselves and get tested.”

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa also tested positive for coronavirus late on Sunday night along with his daughter. The BJP leader tweeted, “I have tested positive for coronavirus. Whilst I am fine, I am being hospitalised as a precaution on the recommendation of doctors. I request those who have come in contact with me recently to be observant and exercise self quarantine.”
