“Listen To Students’ Mann Ki Baat”: Rahul Gandhi’s Jibe On Centre Over JEE, NEET Exams

Before Rahul, Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia had also urged the centre to rethink the decision and “make the alternate arrangement”.

Taking a swipe at Prime Minister using the reference of his monthly radio show, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today urged the central government to hear “students ke mann ki baat” and postpone the JEE and the NEET – common entrance exams for admission to IITs and medical courses – in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

Rahul Gandhi, in a tweet, said, “Government of India must listen to the #StudentsKeMannKiBaat about NEET, JEE exams and arrive at an acceptable solution.” His statement comes a day before the top court is scheduled to hear the matter.

Before Rahul, Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia had also urged the centre to rethink the decision and “make the alternate arrangement”.

Sources, however, suggested that the central government plans to go ahead with the exams for which lakhs of students appear from across the country. As per the schedule, admit cards as for the exams have already been issued and majority students have downloaded them, sources said.

Dismissing another petition by students demanding the exams to be deferred, the top court had earlier said, The careers of students cannot be put under jeopardy. Life cannot be stopped…Covid may continue for a year more. Are you going to wait another year?”

The JEE main exam is supposed to take place between September 1 and September 6, whereas the nEEt exam will commence of September 6.
