Rahul Gandhi said a massive transition is required and coordination between the Centre & states, and the government & the people.
New Delhi: The government needed to “give transparency” on an exit plan after the national lockdown due to end on May 17, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said today.
Gandhi also said the nation required not just a “strong PM” but also “strong Chief Ministers”. The country would lose the COVID-19 battle if it was limited only to the PM’s Office, he said.
“If we keep this fight only in Prime Minister’s Office, we will lose; PM must devolve power,” the Gandhi said in a video interaction with the media.
“The lockdown is not a key, that you switch it on and it’s gone. It requires a number of things to happen. It requires a psychological change. The government needs to understand that it’s not an on-off switch,” congress leader added.
Gandhi added that reopening has to be a transition. “You need to have a strategy.”

For example, the listing of red, orange and green had been done at the nationwide level, but should have been done at the level of the DM as they have the most ground data, Gandhi said.
Former Congress President also “advised” Prime Minister to talk to state Chief Ministers more often, and as a colleague, not as a boss.
Gandhi has been holding conversations with public intellectuals through video conferencing where he has been talking about COVID-19 and what India needs to do going forward.
Former RBI governor Raghuram Rajan and Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee were his first two guests.
