The bypoll win bolsters Scindia’s chances of being declared a Chief Minister candidate of Congress ahead of upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections.
In a high stake battle to win the MP bypoll, Congress on Wednesday defeated BJP registering a victory on both the seats-Mungaoli and Kolaras. The two assembly constituencies come under Guna, which is the Loksabha constituency of Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia.
In Mungaoli, Congress’ Brijendra Singh defeated BJP’s Baisahab Yadav with the vote margin of 2,123 votes. Brijendra Singh received as much as 70,808 votes. It is important to note that NOTA received as much as 2,253 votes.

In Kolaras, the counting of votes went until the evening. Mahendra Yadav of Congress registered a victory with 82,515 votes. On the other hand, BJP had to face a defeat with the party’s candidate Devendra Singh received only 74,432 votes.
Even though BJP couldn’t win in a traditional Congress Bastion, it, however, managed to increase its vote share.

Soon after the results were announced, Supporters of Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia started celebrating outside the Congress headquarter in Madhya Pradesh. They even shouted slogans such as “Ab Ki Baar, Scindia ki Sarkar”.
The bypoll win is not only a morale boost to the Congress ahead of upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections but also bolsters Scindia’s chances of being declared as a Chief Minister candidate of Congress in Madhya Pradesh.
