Maharashtra To Adopt Kerala Model To Tackle Coronavirus Pandemic

Maharashtra and Kerala health ministers discussed issues such as ensuring physical distancing, quarantine facilities, and treatment to minimising deaths

 

MUMBAI| On Monday Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope held a video conference with Kerala counterpart K.K. Shailaja sharing tips to tackle the novel coronavirus pandemic and to flatten the curve of rising cases in Kerala state.

Kerala was the first states where positive cases in the country were detected. Kerala with its effective communication modes and action with its people-centric measures making it possible to flatten the curve. Maharashtra is the worst affected state in the nation, handling thousands of patient. Mumbai, especially slum-like Dharavi, which reports a large number of patients.

The issues discussed between the ministers ranged from ensuring physical distancing, setting up quarantine facilities, and treatment to ensure minimising deaths. Mr Tope also asked Kerala’s progress in plasma treatment.

Mr Tope tweeted, тАЬI interacted with KeralaтАЩs Health Minister to understand the measures taken by that State to control the disease. It was an extremely useful discussion as we will surely try to implement a few of the measures by them.тАЭ

Ms Shailaja tweeted, Mr Tope, lauded KeralaтАЩs efforts in providing the best quarantine system. тАЬThe minister shared that the challenge in Maharashtra is the inability to ensure social distancing in places like Dharavi.”
