Man Saved By Chennai’s Lady Singham Dies At Hospital

Chennai : A day after being rescued by Chennai’s Lady Singham, and safely reaching at Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital, 25 year old Udhaya Kumar dies at hospital on Friday Morning.

A video of police inspector Rajeshwari rescuing a man lying unconscious at a cemetery in the TP Chatram area of Chennai amidst a heavy downpour has gone viral.

In the video, the police inspector can be seen carrying the man on her shoulders and rushing to a nearby hospital in an auto. As the video went viral on social media, praise poured in from all quarters for the selfless act of police inspector Rajeshwari.

Reports said the 28-year-old man was found unconscious at a cemetery as heavy rains battered several regions of Tamil Nadu on Thursday, leading to flooding in many areas of Chennai. Police said trees were uprooted in places like Egmore and Perambur.

Rajeshwari, who was clearing an uprooted tree, received a call about a man lying unconscious at a cemetery. She rushed there believing the man would could be saved. A tree had fallen on him during the incessant rain that lashed Chennai.

The cop carried the unconscious man on her shoulders to reach an autorickshaw which she had arranged for a hospital. In a 2 minute video that has now gone viral. Rajeshwari can be seen running frantically, carrying the man on her shoulders and shouting out to her colleagues there that he should be saved at any cost. She had covered him with blanket.

Kumar Jayanth, Principal Secretary, Revenue Department, Tamil Nadu, said 12 people have died since Saturday in rain-related incidents.

A depression that has formed over the Bay of Bengal will cross the coast between North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh on Thursday evening, bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall in Chennai and its suburbs.
