Modi Government “Missing”: Rahul Gandhi’s Jibe After India Crosses 20 Lakh COVID-19 Cases

Rahul, while taking a swipe at Modi government after India crossed 20 lakh cases of coronavirus, quoted his tweet from 17 July in which he had warned that India may cross 20 Lakh cases by August 10.

“20 लाख का आँकड़ा पार, ग़ायब है मोदी सरकार (20 Lakh mark has been crossed, but Modi government is missing),” Rahul Gandhi said in his tweet today, addressing the issue of rising coronavirus cases across the country.

Rahul, while taking a swipe at Modi government after India crossed 20 lakh cases of coronavirus, quoted his tweet from 17 July in which he had warned that India may cross 20 Lakh cases by August 10.

“10 Lakh mark has been crossed. If COVID-19 continues to spread with such speed, by August 10, there will be more than 20 Lakh cases of coronavirus infection in the country. The government must take concrete, planned steps to stop the epidemic,” Rahul had said.

Rahul has been constantly cornering the incumbent Modi government over the handling of multiple issues. He’s been regularly tweeting, attacking the central government over the mismanagement of Coronavirus pandemic, bad handling of the economy, and pushing of China’s intrusion under the carpet by the government.

Earlier, he had talked to the founder of Grameen Bank and the Nobel Peace Prize winner Mohammad Yunus in a series of discussions on Coronavirus. Rahul questioned how the Coronavirus crisis has affected the poor, the availability of loans, and poor women. Professor Yunus said that the financial system has been designed in a very wrong way.

“Women were separated. They have no voice, while they are the core strength of society. When the micro-credit came, the women realized their power. She can fight, she has the skill. They are forgotten because they are from the informal sector,” Yunus had said.

“During the time of the Coronavirus crisis, the weaknesses of society have been revealed. There are poor people, migrant labourers in cities. There are people we know who work for us, cooks, and security personnel. But, suddenly we see millions of them on the highway trying to go home. This is the reason that nothing is left for them in the cities,” he had further added.
