“I am committing suicide. The Narendra Modi government is responsible”: Maharashtra Farmer in a suicide note

The farmer left behind a suicide note in which he blamed PM Modi along with several other people for the agrarian crisis.

Days after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ensured the farm loan waiver to the farmers at Kisan Long March, a farmer in state’s Yavatmal district committed suicide and mentioned PM Modi’s name in the suicide note. The 50-years old farmer from Rajurwadi, Shankar Bhaurao Chayre ended his life by consuming poison.

The farmer left behind a suicide note in which he blamed PM Modi along with several other people. He held the government responsible for the agrarian crisis and demanded that his family be helped.

“I have a large debt burden, So I am committing suicide. The Narendra Modi government is responsible,” he said in his suicide note.

According to the reports, Chayre was debt-ridden and thus tried to commit suicide by hanging himself. However, the rope snapped, thus he consumed poison. He was taken to Vasantrao Naik Medical College Hospital but could not be saved. Even after the 12 hours of the incident, the family refused to accept his body.

The family demanded a visit from PM Modi or the full compensation before they accept the body.

In the suicide note, Chyre had mentioned that he was debt-ridden and had sought help from MPs, MLAs and various government officials but received no help.
