NCP Cadre Makes People Apologise For Alleged Remarks On Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule, Videos Go Viral

Mr. Nawab Malik, the Minority Minister, and senior NCP leader talked to HW News on the same issue and said ‘freedom of speech’ doesn’t allow anyone to abuse others.

Mumbai| Two videos of two different men went viral on Monday, apologizing for writing allegedly objectionable posts on Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, MP Supriya Sule, and MLA Jitendra Awhad. One person amongst them was a journalist whereas the other was a WhatsApp group member.

These two people were made to apologize in the videos. Later, the videos were shared on WhatsApp by the NCP media cell.

According to the NCP cadre, the two people seen in the videos posted objectionable content about Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule, and Jitendra Awhad.

The one man who was made to apologize, said in a video, “Yesterday on our WhatsApp group, there were some objectionable posts on Sharad Pawar sir, Supriya Sule ma’am, and Jitendra Awhad.” He was then corrected by the person shooting the video to call Jitendra Awhad as ‘sir’.

The person further added, ” I had posted some smileys on the same posts. I apologize for that with folded hands.”

The second person was made to say similar things in another video. The video was taken outside NCP office in Nashik.

As the videos surfaced on the internet, people started questioning if vigilantism and gagging the people’s voices are acceptable in a state ruled by parties who advocate freedom of speech.

Mr. Nawab Malik, the Minority Minister, and senior NCP leader talked to HW News on the same issue and said ‘freedom of speech’ doesn’t allow anyone to abuse others.

“I haven’t seen the video. Freedom of speech is a fundamental right, but the freedom to abuse isn’t a fundamental right. People should be stopped somewhere for acting irresponsibly,” Nawab Malik said.

After questioned whether taking any legal action could have been more suitable than making such videos, Mr. Malik said, “I do not have any information on the videos. I’ll check them now that you’ve told. But I’d also say that people have a right to speak but not to abuse,” He further added.
