RJD leader and former former Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Tejasvi Yadav has organized a candle march on Jantar Mantar against sexual exploitation of 40 girls from Muzaffarpur’s Shelter House. Various opposition leaders too have joined him in the protest. Congress’ Rahul Gandhi, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and CPI(M) member Sitaram Yechury were also present. Apart from Jitan Ram Manjhi on the stage, several veteran leaders of RJD were also present. All the leaders have condemned this incident and have launched an attack on Nitish government.
Along with RJD leader Tejasvi Yadav, Misa Bharti, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, rebel JDU leader Sharad Yadav and CPI leader D Raja has reached Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Prior to Rahul Gandhi’s arrival, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal reached Jantar Mantar and left immediately after giving a speech. Both leaders avoided any confrontation.
While addressing the gathering, Tejaswi Yadav attacked Nitish Kumar. Tejaswi said, “No matter how powerful the culprits are, they should be hanged. The poor girls were being exploited repeatedly and on the other hand government continued funding to the NGO.” He further said that he has seven sisters, all of them have daughters but the orphan girls from the shelter home don’t have anybody to turn to. Accusing Nitish Kumar of defending the accused Brajesh thakur, he said, “Nitish Kumar tried to remove Thakur’s name from the FIR.”
Rahul Gandhi, in his address said that we have not only come here to seek justice for Muzaffarpur but for the women of the whole country. “We have come to tell that we are standing with the people of the country, standing with women, we are standing with the victims and we are not going to retreat even an inch,” said Rahul Gandhi. He even targeted BJP-RSS saying that the whole opposition is standing together with the people of the country and BJP-RSS is standing on the other side. “If the people of the country make up their ind, nobody can stand up to them,” Rahul said.
