Pakistan is creating war hysteria: India denies Qureshi’s allegations

New Delhi | Ministry Of External Affairs today released a statement denying reports of any potential attack by India on Pakistan, after Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi alleged that he had evidence that India was planning one between April 16-20.

‘India rejects the irresponsible and preposterous statements by the Foreign Minister of Pakistan’ it says.

Calling it a public gimmick, it said that it rather seems to be a call for Pakistan based-terrorists to carry out an attack in India.

Accusing Pakistan of not taking responsibilities for its cross-border terrorism it said, “No attempt at creating an alibi for its complicity in such at in such attacks will succeed”, and urged Pakistan to take ‘credible and irreversible’ steps to combat terrorism, rather than make hysterical statements.

It requested Pakistan to use established channels to share any actionable or credible information they have received about any imminent attacks.

Qureshi’s statements came a month after the peak in tensions between the two countries, triggered by the Pulwama attacks on February 14, followed by the Balakot airstrikes.

Addressing a press conference in his home town of Multan, Qureshi had said the government had “reliable intelligence that India is devising a new plan”.

“A new mishap could be staged…And its purpose will be to justify their [India’s] offensive against Pakistan and to increase diplomatic pressure against Islamabad,” he had alleged.

“If it happens, you can imagine the impact of the occurrence on the peace and stability of the region. According to our information, the action could be taken between 16-20 April,” Qureshi said, adding that preparations were being made for the attack against Pakistan.
