PM Modi salutes valour of 2001 parliament attack martyrs

New Delhi | Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday saluted the valour of the martyrs in the 2001 Parliament attack.

Paying respect to the martyrs PM Modi wrote,”We salute the valour of those who were martyred during the dastardly attack on our Parliament on this day in 2001. Their courage and heroism inspires every Indian.”

On December 13, 2001, five heavily-armed terrorists linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), attacked the complex in New Delhi and opened fire indiscriminately. 14 people, mostly security forces and one civilian, were killed in this incident. Afzal Guru, Shaukat Hussain, SAR Geelani and Navjot Sandhu were named as the accused for the attack. The mastermind of the attack Afzal Guru was executed by hanging on 9 February 2013. Around 100 members of Parliament were present in the building during the attack.
