A pregnant migrant woman was walking home from Maharashtra to Madhya Pradesh amid the ongoing lockdown who delivered a baby on the road.
Bhopal| Migrant workers are still forced to walk thousands of kilometres to reach their homes, amid national lockdown among whom a pregnant migrant woman delivered a baby on road.
The woman who was walking from Maharashtra to her village in Madhya Pradesh gave birth on the way. She rested for 2 hours after giving birth and then continued with the walk for another 150 kilometres.
The pregnant woman and her husband started their journey from Nashik in Maharashtra and were walking towards their home in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, as per ANI.
On Tuesday, she experienced labour pain during the long and arduous walk home.
“After she gave birth, we rested for two hours and then we walked for at least 150 kilometres,” her husband said.
Her husband said that a Sikh family gave clothes and essentials for the newborn baby at Dhule.

“We got to know that the administration at the border arranged a bus for them, as they reached Unchehara we brought them here. All check-ups have been done, both mother and the baby are doing fine,” Satna Block Medical Officer, AK Ray said.
The woman and other people walking with her had lost their jobs in Nashik due to the closing of industries. With no food and money left, they decided to walk to their homes in Madhya Pradesh.
Another pregnant migrant worker was forced to deliver her baby on the road as she walked home from Telangana to Chhattisgarh early in May.
