Punjab Congress to march with 10,000 cars against BJP government

Mohali : Punjab Congress will start it’s march on brutal murder of farmers at Lakhimpur against BJP on Thursday. The march will be lead by Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu. 10,000 cars will be going from Mohali to Lakhimpure.

Punjab Chief had warned on Tuesday that the state unit would march to Lakhimpur Kheri if Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is not released, and Union minister Ajay Mishra’s son is not arrested. Sidhu, who earlier held a protest against the violence in which eight people, including four farmers died, had given time to the UP government till Wednesday. “If by tomorrow, the Union minister’s son behind the brutal murder of farmers is not arrested, and our leader @PriyankaGandhi being unlawfully arrested, fighting for farmers is not released, the Punjab Congress will march towards Lakhimpur Kheri! (sic),” he posted on the microblogging site on Tuesday.

Sachin Pilot Detained On Way To Meet Families Of Farmers

Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot, was on his way to meet the families of farmers killed in the violence that broke out in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur, was detained in Moradabad on Wednesday evening. He landed in Delhi earlier in the day and visuals showed him setting out for the BJP-ruled state straight from the airport.

Before getting detained, Sachin Pilot questions that why is government not letting him meet the family of deceased farmers, he said “They are letting others to meet the grieving families, why aren’t they allowing us? I just want to meet the families without creating any law-and-order problem.”

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is in detention at the PAC compound in Sitapur since Monday morning. She was on her way to meet the families of farmers killed in Sunday’s violence when she was stopped.

The Ghaziabad Police had launched a special checking drive upon getting information about Sachin Pilot’s intended visit to Lakhimpur Kheri to meet the families of farmers killed in Lakhimpur Kheri, according to news agency Press Trust of India.

“Every vehicle is being checked. The Ghaziabad administration will not permit Sachin Pilot to go Lakhimpur as his presence may cause law and order problems there,” City Superintendent of Police (second) Gyanendra Singh, who is on duty at Ghazipur border, told PTI.
