Thousands of Migrants Stranded on Delhi-UP Border, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi Slam Government

After Yogi Government announced that it’ll arrange 1000 buses for the transport of migrants, thousands qued up at the Anand Vihar Bus Terminal.

New Delhi| Congress leader Rahul Gandhi slammed the government, sharing a video on of migrants workers stranded on the Delhi-UP border. Rahul Gandhi in his tweet said that migrant workers are struggling to find their way back home.

Rahul said that the Government of India did not chalk out contingency plans for this exodus.

He further added that the way Indian citizens are being treated is ‘shameful’.

Rahul, in a tweet, said, “Out of work and facing an uncertain future, millions of our brothers and sisters across India are struggling to find their way back home. It’s shameful that we’ve allowed any Indian citizen to be treated this way and that the government had no contingency plans in place for this exodus.”

Right after Rahul came down heavily on the central government, the General Secretary of the party, Priyanka Gandhi, also lashed out at the government.

Priyanka Gandhi on Twitter referred to the situation of migrants as ‘human tragedy’.

She shared pictures of thousands of migrant workers stuck at Delhi-UP border waiting in ques to board buses at the Anand Vihar bus station in Delhi, Gandhi said ‘India deserves better’.

Priyanka, on her Twitter handle, said, “A human tragedy in the streets of Delhi, Ghaziabad, Anand Vihar. Women, children and the elderly have been left to their own devices. They are, walking, riding rickshaws and sitting on the rooftops of the buses to return home. Don’t know what is the government up to.”

Thousands of migrant workers who mostly work as daily wage labourers started walking towards their towns from national capital after the 21-days lockdown was imposed and they lost their daily earnings. Families, with elders and kids, walked from Delhi Towards Uttar Pradesh.

After Yogi Government announced that it’ll arrange 1000 buses for the transport of migrants, thousands qued up at the Anand Vihar Bus terminal, with a hope of going back to their villages in a crisis situation.
