Rakesh Tikait : Farmers’ Protest Will End Only After Bills Are Repealed Officially in Parliament

New Delhi : Bhartiya Kisan Union Leader Rakesh Tikait welcomed the announced made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi of Cancelling three farm laws in next parliament session. But he is saidthat the farmers’ protest will not end till the three farm laws are formally repealed in Parliament. He tweeted the same shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the central government has decided to withdraw the three farm bills and the same will be done in the coming Parliament session.

While Speaking with Hindustan Times Tikait reiterated that “Khoonta tabhi ukharenge jab kaam pakka ho Javega (will return only when the deed is done)“. He made no bones in admitting that farmers don’t trust such announcements until it is duly passed by the Parliament. “Sanyukt Kisan Morcha meeting will be convened today to discuss and review the development and further course of action will be decided accordingly, said Tikait who showed reluctance to welcome the announcement and said,“ we can say its a beginning.” He said that over 600 farmers had given their sacrifice to strengthen and carry forward the movement and we need to honour their sacrifice while taking any decision.

“Great news! Thankful to PM @narendramodi ji for acceding to the demands of every Punjabi and repealing the three black laws on the pious occasion of #GuruNanakJayanti. I am sure the central government will continue to work in tandem for the development of the kisan (farmer),” Capt Amarinder Singh tweeted, tagging Union home minister Amit Shah, who he had met recently after stepping down as CM and quitting the Congress as the state heads for assembly elections early next year. “This has not only come as a huge relief for farmers but has paved the way for Punjab’s progress. I look forward to working closely with the BJP-led Centre for the development of farmers. I promise Punjab’s people I won’t rest till I wipe every tear from every single eye,” Capt Amarinder added.
