Several top leaders have expressed their grief over the loss of the veteran DMK Chief and party cadres have been raising slogans since he was unwell, hailing Karunanidhi.
The ailing DMK chief Karunanidhi succumbed to age-related ailments today on Tuesday. Mr. Karunanidhi, 94, was being treated at Kauvery hospital by a team of doctors, a health bulletin issued by Kauvery Hospital Executive Director Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj said.
The bulletin said his condition was extremely critical and he was being treated for fever due to urinary tract infection with intravenous antibiotics and fluids.
Several political bigwigs had visited DMK chief’s Gopalapuram residence to inquire about his health in his last days.
For the past two years, the DMK president has not been making any public appearance owing to ill-health, but he still held the top post in the Dravidian party.
