Son-in-Law of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi Robert Vadra on Wednesday made an appearance before the Enforcement Directorate with regards to a money-laundering probe case that was in connection to the possession of illegal foreign assets.
Vadra was accompanied by his wife Priyanka Gandhi with SPG personnel in tow and dropped him outside the office of Enforcement Directorate in Jamnagar House in central Delhi. She however left in band of vehicles.
Further, seven people including Assistant Director ML Sharma and Deputy Director Rajeev Sharma of ED interrogated Robert Vadra.
The questions that were asked by Robert Vadra are as under:
- How much property does he own?
- What kind of relation does he share with Sanjay Bhandari?
- Who is the owner of two houses and six flats in London?
- Sanjay Bhandari had bought the flats in London and later sold them. How come that the amount end up coming in Vadra’s account?
- Did Manoj Arora send an email to Bhandari’s man?
- What is Manoj Arora’s occupation and where did he get so much money to buy properties in London?
During the first round of questioning, Robert Vadra kept his answers brief. More so, he denied any kind of ties with Sanjay Bhandari and his cousin Sumit Chadha. He denied that he owns any property directly or indirectly in London. He further said, “Manoj Arora was once an employee. But he did not write any email on my behalf”.
Manoj Arora, an employee of Mr Vadra’s firm Skylight Hospitality, is a key person in the case. He was aware of Mr Vadra’s undeclared assets overseas and was instrumental in arranging funds, the probe agency has alleged.
