Shiv Sena Praises Rahul Gandhi For “Mature” Stand As An Opposition

In an editorial of its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, Shiv Sena said that PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi should hold a one-on-one conversation.

Mumbai| The Shiv Sena today applauded Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi owing to the “positive stand” he has taken with respect to the coronavirus pandemic. It said that Rahul has shown how a responsible opposition party should behave during a crisis like this.

Rahul Gandhi had addressed the press via video conferencing and said that he may have differences with Prime Minister Modi, but this is not the right time to argue as the country needs to fight this pandemic unitedly.

In an editorial of its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, Shiv Sena said that PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi should hold a one-on-one conversation to discuss the crisis for the benefit of the country.

“There can be certain opinions about Rahul Gandhi. Well, there are opinions about PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah as well. Half of the BJP’s success is due to tarnishing the image of Rahul Gandhi. This continues even today,” the Saamana editorial read.

“But Gandhi has to be praised for the stand he has taken in the present crisis. He has created a model code of conduct on how an opposition party should behave when the country is faced with a crisis,” the right-wing party which is in power in Maharashtra said.

“Gandhi recognized the coronavirus threat well in advance and continuously warned the government to take necessary steps. When everybody was busy pulling down the (Congress-led) Madhya Pradesh government, Gandhi was trying to wake the government up to tackle the coronavirus crisis,” it further read.

“On Thursday, Gandhi again said that this is not the time to quarrel. He said, he might have a difference with PM Modi, but this is not the time for it. He said that we need to unite in the fight against coronavirus pandemic and if we quarrel, we will not succeed in it,” the editorial further added.

Shiv Sena is currently in an alliance with the Congress and NCP. The Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray is working as the Chief Minister for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
