24- year- old lynching victim Tabrez Ansari’s wife Shahista Parveen met the DC and SP of Ranchi and demanded that charges against the accused be charged from culpable homicide to murder.
Jharkhand- Jharkhand lynching victims Tabrez Ansari’s wife has threatened to commit suicide if the accused are not tried for murder. Shahista Parveen met the DC and SP of Ranchi and demanded that charge against the accused be changed from section 304 to section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. (IPC)
She threatened to commit suicide outside the DC office if her demands are not met. Parveen reached DC’s office with her mother and her father -in -law and met the officials after a long wait.
“The whole would save my husband’s murderers still my husband’s murderers are being saved by the district administration. If the murder charges are not reinstated against the Killers, I will commit suicide outside the DC office”, said Parveen.
Shahista Parveen ard Tarbez Ansari had married for barely two months when he was brutally lynched on June 17. Tabrez Ansari succumbed to his injuries on June 22.
Two days after he died, Parveen realized she was pregnant but the stress of her husband’s death caused a miscarriage.
According to the police report, Tabrez’s Cardiac arrest was induced by a combination of a skull fracture, pale organs and filling up of blood in his heart chambers. The final post mortem that Ansari died of cardiac arrest and stating that it was not a case of premeditated murder police filed charge sheet under section 304.
The event of a conviction, section 302 provides for life imprisonment and even the death penalty. Under section 304, a convict can be sentenced to imprisonment for 10 years which may extend to life imprisonment.
