“Thank UP STF For Not Killing Me In Encounter” : Dr Kafeel Khan After Being Freed

After coming out of Mathura Jail, Dr Kafeel Khan thanked the judiciary for his release order. He accused the Yogi Government of harassing him in the jail.

About 12 hours after the Allahabad High Court order, Dr. Kafeel Khan was finally released from Mathura jail late on Tuesday. Doctor Kafeel was released at around 12 pm. Kafeel was lodged in the Mathura jail for nearly seven and a half months under the National Security Act on charges of making inflammatory speeches in Aligarh against the amended Citizenship Act (CAA) last year.

The bench of Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Soumitra Dayal Singh ordered the immediate release of Kafeel. However, Kafeel Khan could not be released immediately. After all the efforts of his lawyers and family, Kafeel was released from Mathura jail at around 12 pm on Tuesday night.

After he came out of jail, he thanked the judiciary. He also accused the state government of harassment. Dr. Kafeel said, “I am very thankful to the Judiciary, who has given this order. Thank you to all 138 crore countrymen and thanks to those who supported me in the struggle.”

Targeting the Yogi government, Kafeel Khan said, “In the order, they have written that the Uttar Pradesh government imposed a false baseless case on me. In the prison, I was tortured for five days without food, without water. I will also thank the STF of Uttar Pradesh, who have not killed me in an encounter while bringing me to Mathura from Mumbai.”

On Tuesday, the Allahabad High Court ordered immediate release of Dr Kafeel Khan and said that his detention under NSA was illegal. It also said that his speech promoted unity and integrity of the country.
