Though the clear picture of Rajasthan’s politics is yet to emerge, supported by independents, the Congress government in Rajasthan is not short of numbers for the majority and is safe currently.
The posters of Rajasthan party president and Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, that were moved by the Congress workers from the party office in Jaipur amid his rebellion against the leadership, were reinstated after it became clear that Pilot will not be quitting Congress.
Pilot, on Monday morning, had told NDTV that he “is not going to join the BJP”.
Congress did not crow much even after Mr. Gehlot scoring a big advantage this morning in the meeting of Congress MLAs by being able to gather enough legislators in the meeting from their party to prove that Mr. Pilot has just 10 MLAs siding with him in his revolt against Mr. Gehlot. Randeep Singh Surjewala, who led the press conference, made repeated comments over fixing the issues with Mr. Pilot. “Talk to us,” Mr. Surjewala, deputed to Jaipur from Delhi to handle the crisis, appealed to the Rajasthan deputy CM.
Mr. Surjewala said that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have not met with Mr. Pilot, who arrived in Delhi on Saturday, but they have been in regular touch with him, hoping that differences will be resolved “at a party forum.”
Now, according to the reports quoting sources, there could have been a settlement between Pilot and Congress party.
Sachin Pilot could have agreed on the settlement formula by which he will continue to remain the Deputy CM of Rajasthan and President of PCC, there will be a cabinet shuffle and MLAs from Pilot’s flock could be given important portfolios, FIR against him with section 124A could be squashed and Pilot could be given a more say in the state government, sources said.
Though the clear picture of Rajasthan’s politics is yet to emerge, supported by independents, the Congress government in Rajasthan is not short of numbers for the majority and is safe currently.
