Two Women Doctors of Safdarjung Hospital Assaulted For Allegedly “Spreading Coronavirus”

According to the reports, both women doctors who were assaulted are working in the Emergency Department of Safdarjung Hospital.

 

New Delhi| As the number of cases of Coronavirus increase in the country, the number of attacks on Doctors are also increasing. Another such attack was reported in Delhi. Here, a man assaulted two women doctors of Safdarjung hospital living in the capital’s Gautam Nagar area. The accused assaulted both the doctors, accusing them of spreading Coronavirus. According to the reports, both women doctors are working in the Emergency Department of Safdarjung Hospital. The women doctors have lodged a complaint with the police, after which the police have arrested a person on charges of assaulting and abusing the doctors.

The doctors informed that both of them went to a shop near Gulmohar Enclave to collect some essential items after returning from work at 9.30 pm on Wednesday. A person already present there told them about social distancing first. When both the doctors said that they had information in this regard, the accused got angry and started threatening to register a case. When the doctors did not pay attention to this, he started shouting that both are spreading the coronavirus. When they started leaving from the shop, the accused blocked their path and started assaulting them.

Soon after the incident was reported, both the doctors contacted the police. Taking prompt action in the case, the police conducted a medical examination of both the doctors and arrested the accused by registering a case. According to the police, the case is being investigated. Dr Manish, president of Safdarjung Hospital Resident Doctors Association, condemned the incident. He has demanded strict action against the accused.
