Unnao Rape Convict, Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s Wife Is Now BJP Candidate For UP Panchayat Elections 2021

Earlier in 2016, Sangeeta Sengar- wife of Kuldeep Sengar became the independent district panchayat president. Since the announcement of the ticket, protests have started flaring up in Unnao.

 

The Bharatiya Janata Party has not cut all the strings with former party MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, convicted in the Unnao rape case. Now, the saffron party has given a ticket to Kuldeep’s wife Sangeeta Sengar in the UP panchayat elections. She has been fielded from Zilla Panchayat member ward number 22-Fatehpur Chaurasi III. BJP has released the list of candidates for 51 posts for the District Panchayat in Unnao.

In the 2016 District Panchayat President-Elect, there was a fierce contest between SP candidate Jyoti Rawat and Sangeeta Sengar, in which both the candidates got equal 26-26 votes, after which a lottery was held and Sangeeta Sengar was declared victorious.

Who is Kuldeep Singh Sengar?

The party hopper former MLA of the BJP and his accomplices had abducted the minor in 2017 and gang-raped her. The case was investigated by the CBI. On the direction of the Supreme Court, the case was transferred to Tis Hazari Court in Delhi. The Delhi Court, while convicting the convict Kuldeep Singh Sengar (53), sentenced him to life imprisonment on 20 December 2019 and ordered to keep him in jail till death. Sengar was also fined Rs 25 lakh. Assembly membership of Kuldeep Sengar has also been cancelled.
