Violence erupted in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, claiming four lives on Thursday, with officials asserting the clashes were premeditated. A curfew was imposed after residents set vehicles and a police station ablaze, protesting the demolition of an “illegally constructed” madrasa and mosque. The majority of those hospitalized were police officers and municipal workers engaged in the demolition.
