5-Star Hotel Murder Over Intimate Photos Resolved Swiftly

Monday’s vicious murder at a five-star hotel in Guwahati was the result of a love triangle, and the case was quickly resolved before the accused could take a flight to Kolkata, which is located half a thousand kilometres away.

The 42-year-old Sandip Suresh Kambli was discovered dead at the Azara hotel, which is close to the Guwahati airport, yesterday afternoon. The accused, Anjali Shaw, 25, and her boyfriend, Rakesh Shaw, 27, were scheduled to travel to Kolkata later that evening. Still, due to an early police reaction, they were taken into custody before getting to the airport.

Hotel workers discovered Pune-based car trader Kambli, who was heavily bleeding from his nose, lying on the floor of his room.

According to sources, Anjali, who worked at the airport café in Kolkata, was romantically involved with Kambli, whom she had made friends with there the previous year.

But since Anjali was already seeing Rakesh, who had been urging her to get married, this created problems. Anjali revealed during her interrogation that the victim had private photos of her on his phone, which further compounded the situation.

Anjali and Rakesh decided to confront Kambli about those pictures as a result of this. Originally scheduled to meet at the airport in Kolkata, Kambli changed the meeting location to Guwahati, where he made reservations at a five-star hotel.

After taking a joint flight to Guwahati, the pair split up there. Unknown to Kambli, Rakesh reserved a room at the same hotel.

According to the sources, Kambli met Anjali in the city as planned and checked into the hotel together. Rakesh arrived independently in the meanwhile.

Rakesh’s arrival during their meeting infuriated Kambli, and the two got into a fight. After Kambli was hurt during the altercation, the pair ran away. Additionally, they allegedly grabbed Kambli’s two cell phones, which contained their private images.

The hotel administration was notified by a phone call from Rakesh later in the day, and they notified the city police of Guwahati. As soon as possible, the police identified the two suspects by going through the hotel register, CCTV video, and airport passengers’ list. Before they could board the 9:15 pm flight to Kolkata, Anjali and Rakesh were apprehended outside the hotel.

The police are still looking into the case as they attempt to piece together what happened before and during their altercation.
