The central government has notified the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 to combat cheating in public exams and entrance tests. This law, passed in February, mandates three to five years of imprisonment for cheating and five to ten years for organized cheating crimes, along with a minimum fine of Rs 1 crore. The move addresses alleged malpractices in NEET and UGC NET exams.
