The Army Chief has been briefed on security conditions along the Line of Control
Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi traveled to Srinagar on Friday to evaluate the situation in the valley following the attack. In order to address security concerns and create a cohesive response to the tragic event, the central government also called an all-party meeting on Thursday.
According to Army officials, the chief is receiving a briefing on the security conditions along the Line of Control in Poonch-Rajouri districts and other regions south of the Pir Panjal mountain ranges.
Security forces strengthened the multi-layered cordon as the combing operation to apprehend three escaped terrorists began its second day. Authorities are searching the nearby communities of Kishtwar, Kathua, Rajouri, and Poonch as well as the forested areas of Udhampur district, which are thought to be hiding places for the terrorists.
“In Dudu-Basantgarh, the army, police, and CRPF special forces have been conducting a search operation. The search for the fugitive terrorists is under way,” a security official stated.
In the meantime, EAM Jaishankar met Nepalese ambassador and conveyed condolences on death of Nepal man in Pahalgam attack. He also discussed their bilateral ties.
Meanwhile, Omar Abdullah, the chief minister of J&K said, “The government of India has taken some steps. As far as J&K is concerned, we have never been in favour of the Indus Water Treaty. We have always believed that the Indus Water Treaty has been the most unfair document to the people of J&K..”
“It is regrettable that this attack took place and we ensured that whatever issues that were kept in front of us in the meeting, we will work on them. During this meeting, I spoke with the Union home minister and he assured me that all steps will be taken to ensure the safety of the people of J&K who are staying in other states…
