BJP Leader Prasanta Bera Caught Carrying Rs 24 Lakh Cash In Car

In the midst of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections 2024, with only two phases of voting remaining, leaders are employing various tactics to attract voters’ attention. However, a recent incident in West Bengal has stirred controversy. Police checking at Khukurda Naka in Daspur, West Bengal, led to the discovery of a significant amount of cash in the car of a BJP leader named Prashant Bera.

The police stopped Bera’s WagonR during routine checks and found Rs 24 lakh in cash inside the vehicle. The money was bundled in a bag, with PM MODI’s photo printed on the bag, accompanied by party banners and posters placed on the rear seat of the car. A video capturing this incident has been rapidly circulating on social media platforms.

The police seized the bundles of notes found in the car. In a surfaced video, the BJP leader is seen seated inside the car while a bag filled with notes rests near his feet on the passenger seat. Upon being apprehended, the BJP leader remained silent regarding the matter. However, the purpose for which this money was being carried is still unknown.

Trinamool has begun criticizing the BJP in light of recent events. They accuse BJP leaders of inciting unrest across the state, particularly in areas like Sandeshkhali, by allegedly distributing money and weapons ahead of the elections. Ashish Hudait, the organizing district president of Trinamool Ghatal, claimed, “The money seized was likely intended for bribing voters in different areas.” This revelation came to light during a routine police check.

However, BJP district president Tanmoy Das stated, “It is party funds. The money was intended for the upkeep of the party office. After withdrawing it from the account, the party stored it in the office. The funds were meant to be distributed to party offices in seven assembly constituencies. All necessary documents are available, and they are being presented to the police.”

In a similar instance, during a roadshow in support of LJP candidate Veena Devi, Chirag Paswan was accompanied by an MLA who was seen openly distributing money. A video capturing this incident has been widely circulating on social media.

The act of distributing money and liquor during Lok Sabha elections is prohibited by law. However, despite this, leaders continue to engage in such practices to attract voters. The latest instance occurred in Vaishali, Bihar, where Veena Devi, a candidate under the NDA alliance, is contesting for LJP. Chirag Paswan, president of LJP (RV), conducted a roadshow in Vaishali that drew a large crowd. Regarding this incident The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has submitted a complaint to the Election Commission, alleging that during a roadshow on May 22 in the Sahebganj assembly constituency of Vaishali Lok Sabha constituency, money was distributed openly.
