BJP Supporters Cursing Ayodhya Hindus For Opposing Hindutva Agenda

The BJP’s defeat in Ayodhya has stunned the party. Ayodhya, historically significant for its association with the Ram temple and central to the BJP’s ideological stance, was expected to strongly support the party. The BJP cannot believe this, but it is the truth.

Supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are angry with the people of Ayodhya. In the 18th Lok Sabha elections, the people of Ayodhya did not choose the BJP to represent them in Parliament. Hindus who live outside Ayodhya are surprised by this rejection.

Despite the BJP building a grand Ram temple, constructing an airport, and turning Ayodhya into a modern tourist destination, the people of Ayodhya have been seen as “ungrateful” for not giving the BJP this seat.

The hate against the people of Ayodhya and anti-BJP Hindus after the BJP’s defeat in the Faizabad constituency has highlighted the difference between Hindutva and Hinduness. Just as the Hindus of Ayodhya have rejected Hindutva, millions of Hindus have rejected Hindutva by voting against the BJP.

Pawan Sahu, a BJP supporter and prominent Instagram influencer with 4.5 million followers, along with 25 million subscribers on YouTube, was observed spreading hostility towards Hindus in Ayodhya who voted against the BJP. He has since removed the offensive video from all his social media accounts. Shortly after deleting the video, he posted pictures on his profiles featuring himself with other BJP supporters.

RandomSena, an independent Hindutva page with 474.8k followers on Twitter, was also observed spreading animosity towards the Hindus of Ayodhya by posting similar content on Instagram.

Do the people of Ayodhya not have the right to support and vote for their preferred leaders?

In Ayodhya, there were not just one but many Ram temples, each significant to its people. Just as centuries-old temples and homes were demolished to make way for the Kashi Vishwanath corridor in Varanasi.

This resulted in thousands of Hindus losing their homes, livelihoods, and cherished neighbourhoods.

During the elections, those who had remained silent spoke through their votes. This silent rejection of the BJP by many Hindus has left the ruling party in shock. Amidst all the noise, the silence of this majority was impossible to hear.
